We are so excited to announce that the twelfth KidLitCon will be in Ann Arbor, Michigan on March 27 and 28th of 2020, hosted by me, Katy Kramp, with Nakenya Lewis-Yarbrough, and Maggi Rohde. Nakenya and I are public librarians, and Maggi is a school media specialist.
Since my first KidLitCon in Baltimore in 2015, I have been excited about the possibility of hosting KidLitCon in Ann Arbor. It’s a small city with a walkable downtown, an award-winning public library, and so many independent and local bookstores that we lost count trying to write this post – but we’ll be happy to take you on a walking tour of the downtown bookstores, and can throw in sightings of Ann Arbor’s famous fairy doors while we’re doing it!

The amazingly generous Ann Arbor District Library is sponsoring the library, providing meeting rooms and lunches. Our main hotel block is at the beautiful, library-themed Graduate Hotel, a five minute walk from the library, with alternate rooms at the Holiday Inn on the edge of town. The Detroit Metro Airport is a 30 minute drive, and Ann Arbor is also easily accessible by train, with direct routes from Detroit and Chicago.
Our theme for 2020 is Seeing Clearly. We plan to share news about our keynote speakers with you soon and are working on session ideas as well. As always, we are looking to highlight diverse and own voices and bring out the very best of what children’s literature can be. What ideas do you have? Let us know in the comments below or by using our contact form!
