KidLitCon 2020 would have started tomorrow if not for the current pandemic. Even though we don’t know what the future holds for KidLitCon, we still want to give a shout-out to our authors and panelists who were giving their time to KidLitCon. Please support them however you can – buy their books from your local bookstore, request that your library purchase them if they don’t have them, and follow them on social media.

This is the description of the session that we planned to have in person and hope to be able to have someday. We’re really hoping for everyone to stay healthy through all of this! Please feel free to share your thoughts and favorite titles for this topic here or on our social media!

Let’s take a look at Muslim-positive, Muslim-centric books for kids and teens – celebrate what’s there and look at how far we still need to go, with Newbery Honor-winning author Jasmine Warga (Other Words for Home), author Siman Nuurali (the Sadiq series), We Need Diverse Books mentorship winner Tahira Bryant Naeem, and Mena and Zena of Girls of the Crescent. Moderated by middle school teacher Saina Sajjadi.
